OpenAI's o1 - More Excuses Than Answers.
OpenAI's o1 model has been found lacking in mathematical capabilities, as revealed by the new FrontierMath benchmark.
This benchmark, developed by Epoch AI in collaboration with 60 mathematicians, presents unprecedentedly difficult problems. The o1 model solved only 2% of these problems correctly, highlighting its limitations in mathematical reasoning.
Despite this, OpenAI has chosen not to benchmark o1 on MATH and GSM8K, citing outdated evaluation methods.
The results underscore the gap between current AI models and human intelligence in complex mathematical tasks.

Google has updated its Chrome browser for iOS, introducing several new features from the Android version.
The most notable addition is the ability to use Google Lens for simultaneous image and text searches directly within the Chrome app. This allows users to refine their searches by adding text to images, making it easier to find specific items or information.
Other updates include the ability to save images and files directly to Google Photos and Google Drive, a "Good Deal Now" notification for shopping insights, and a mini-map viewer for addresses.
These features aim to enhance user experience and streamline various tasks on iOS devices.

Apple's AI Home Vision…
Apple plans to release an AI-powered smart home display called the "Command Center" by March 2025.
The device will feature a six-inch display, front camera, internal speakers, and a rechargeable battery. It will run on a new OS combining elements of iPhone's StandBy mode and watchOS, controlled primarily by voice.
The Command Center will integrate Apple Intelligence for app access and smart home control, offering customizable widgets and built-in sensors to adjust features based on user proximity.
This device aims to compete with Amazon's Echo Hub and Google's Nest Hub Max.
