AI in Medical

Scottish researchers are developing an AI tool that can detect early signs of dementia through routine eye examinations.
By analyzing photographs of the retina, the AI can assess the health of blood vessels, potentially identifying neurodegenerative diseases before symptoms appear.
The NeurEYE team, led by the University of Edinburgh, has collected nearly a million eye scans to create an algorithm for this purpose.
Early diagnosis could allow for timely treatment and better preparation for patients and their families
Microsoft & Open AI

Microsoft is no longer the exclusive cloud provider for OpenAI. The new agreement grants Microsoft the "right of first refusal" on new OpenAI cloud computing capacity, meaning Microsoft gets the first choice to host OpenAI's AI workloads.
If Microsoft cannot meet OpenAI's needs, OpenAI can turn to other cloud providers like Oracle.
This change comes alongside OpenAI's announcement of the Stargate Project, a $500 billion AI infrastructure deal with SoftBank, Oracle, and others.
Despite the shift, key elements of the Microsoft-OpenAI partnership, such as access to OpenAI's IP and revenue-sharing arrangements, remain in place through 2030.
Claude AI

Anthropic is set to release a two-way voice mode for its chatbot, Claude. This new feature will enable more interactive and conversational experiences.
Additionally, Claude will gain a memory feature, allowing it to remember more about users and past interactions.
Anthropic's CEO, Dario Amodei, announced these updates at the World Economic Forum in Davos, highlighting the company's efforts to keep pace with AI rival OpenAI.
Despite raising $13.7 billion in capital, Anthropic faces financial challenges and is seeking an additional $2 billion in funding to support its growth and development.
