Man Jailed 18 Years for AI-Created Abuse Images
A UK man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for using AI to create child abuse images.
The court found that he used advanced AI tools to generate realistic images of child sexual abuse.
This case highlights the growing misuse of AI technology for criminal activities and underscores the urgent need for stricter regulations and monitoring to prevent such abuses.
The sentencing serves as a stern warning against the exploitation of AI for illegal purposes.
Jarvis AI set to make Chatbots Obsolete
Google is developing Jarvis AI, part of its Gemini series, to automate tasks like booking flights, managing online shopping, and conducting research.
Jarvis aims to handle repetitive chores with more finesse than chatbots, potentially making them obsolete.
The tool will debut in December 2024 and will run via Google Chrome, automating tasks by reading screens and executing actions.
Hospitals Risk Misdiagnosis with AI Transcription Tool
OpenAI’s Whisper, used in medical transcription, sometimes invents entire passages during moments of silence.
Nabla’s tool, powered by Whisper, has transcribed 7 million medical conversations and is used by over 30,000 clinicians.
A study found Whisper hallucinated in about 1% of transcriptions, creating nonsensical or violent phrases.
OpenAI is aware of the issue and is working to reduce hallucinations, advising against use in high-risk domains.
