Google Photos Gets AI Boost
Google has started rolling out early access to its new Gemini-powered photo search feature, “Ask Photos,” for select users in the U.S. This feature aims to make searching through Google Photos more intuitive and conversational.
Enhanced Search Capabilities: The improved search functionality allows users to use more descriptive queries. Instead of simple keywords, users can now search for specific moments like “Alice and me laughing” or “Kayaking on a lake surrounded by mountains,” making it easier to find specific photos and videos.
Ask Photos Feature: Ask Photos leverages the latest Gemini models to understand the context of users’ photo galleries. It can pull out relevant details to help find specific memories or uncover information about users’ lives. For example, users can ask, “Where did we camp last time we went to Yosemite?” or "What did we eat at the hotel in Stanley?".
User Experience and Privacy: The Ask Photos feature is designed to be conversational, allowing users to provide extra clues or details if the initial search doesn’t yield the desired results. Google assures that Photos data will not be used for advertising, and human reviewers will only see anonymized queries to protect user privacy.
Availability and Future Plans: Currently, the Ask Photos feature is available to select users in the U.S. as part of Google Labs. The improved search experience is rolling out in English to all users on Android and iOS, with plans to expand to more languages in the coming weeks.

Key features include support for the AI3 computer, Actually Smart Summon, Cybertruck Autopark, and eye-tracking technology that works with sunglasses.
October 2024: Further Advancements: In October, Tesla plans to roll out version 13 of its FSD software, which aims to achieve six times the miles between necessary interventions. This update will introduce features like Unpark, Park, and Reverse in FSD mode, enhancing the vehicle’s autonomous capabilities.
Q1 2025: Global Expansion: Tesla’s roadmap includes the introduction of FSD in Europe and China in early 2025, pending regulatory approval. This strategic expansion underscores Tesla’s ambition to dominate the global autonomous vehicle market.
