LATEST AI UPDATES
Google is About to Transform The Internet Again.
Google has announced the expansion of its AI Overviews in Search, which are powered by a custom Gemini model. This new feature allows Google to do the searching for users, providing quick answers and overviews of topics. The AI Overviews have been used billions of times through Google’s experiment in Search Labs, and users have found them to be a valuable tool for getting a quick overview of a topic and links to learn more.
AI Overviews Rollout
AI Overviews are now rolling out to all users in the U.S., with plans to expand to more countries soon. By the end of the year, Google expects to bring AI Overviews to over a billion people. The links included in AI Overviews have been found to get more clicks than if the page had appeared as a traditional web listing for the same query.
Adjusting AI Overviews
In the near future, users will be able to adjust their AI Overviews with options to simplify the language or break it down in more detail. This feature will be particularly useful for users who are new to a topic or trying to simplify something to satisfy their kid’s curiosity.
Impact on Web Traffic
As AI Overviews become more prevalent, there are concerns about the potential impact on web traffic. Some estimates suggest that as much as 25% of traffic could be lost over the next couple of years due to this change. However, Google has stated that it will continue to focus on sending valuable traffic to publishers and creators as it expands AI Overviews to more users.
Apple Entered the Generative AI Race.
Apple has announced its entry into the generative AI race, following recent developments at OpenAI and Google. Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, revealed that the company will soon disclose its next steps in the field of open AI. This announcement is expected to take place on June 10, at the opening of the annual Worldwide Developers Conference.
Speculations on Apple’s AI Partnerships
There are speculations that Apple might not directly compete with OpenAI and Google, but instead, might collaborate with one of them for its chatbots and other AI services. Recent leaks suggest that Apple might be close to signing a deal with ChatGPT to integrate it into the iPhone 1. However, talks with Google are also reportedly in progress over using its Gemini technology.
Potential Impact of Apple’s AI Integration
The integration of AI features into Apple’s products could have a significant impact on the AI industry. Both OpenAI and Google are vying for access to Apple’s billion-plus iPhone users. Since the launch of the first iPhone in 2007, Google has paid Apple a considerable sum to have its search engine as the default on the phones.
Analysts’ Predictions on Apple’s AI Strategy
Leading analysts believe that Apple might opt for a different kind of contract than that of the search engine. Instead of setting the ChatGPT or Gemini chatbots as default on the iPhone, the deal might entail utilizing their technology. Some analysts believe that Google has a better-suited infrastructure compared to OpenAI for managing the traffic and data processing that iOS integration would necessitate.
The Real Threat behind AI job fears: Expert identified.

The widespread use of artificial intelligence tools has many workers concerned that the rapidly-evolving technology will eventually result in them losing their jobs. The 2024 Work Trend Index Annual Report recently released by Microsoft and LinkedIn found that 45% of knowledge workers worldwide say they are worried that AI will replace them.
Expert’s View on AI and Job Replacement
Laurence Liew, director for AI Innovation at AI Singapore, says there is a more immediate threat. “AI is not going to replace you,” Liew said during a panel discussion at Salesforce’s World Tour Essentials event in Singapore. "You’re going to be replaced by someone who uses AI to outperform you."
Importance of AI Skills
Liew argues that the most important skill workers can develop today is how to utilize generative AI tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT effectively, by learning how to provide detailed prompts that will deliver more conversational results. “You have to give the AI a lot of context — treat AI like a very hardworking intern that will make mistakes occasionally,” he said.
Current AI Skills Development Trend
According to the same Work Trend report, most professionals are already working on their AI skills, so the competition in this arena is already ramping up. The report found the use of AI tools among knowledge workers across the globe has nearly doubled just over the past six months, with 75% acknowledging they use it.
AI STOCKS
Intel vs Nvidia

Interest in artificial intelligence (AI) has skyrocketed since the start of 2023, with the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT kicking off a boom in the industry. This has put a spotlight on chipmakers like Nvidia and Intel, who are producing the hardware that makes AI possible.
Nvidia’s Dominance in AI
Nvidia has been at the forefront of the AI chip industry, with its leading role in graphics processing units (GPUs) allowing it to get a head start in AI. Nvidia’s stock has risen 218% over the last year, and its free cash flow has increased by 430% to more than $27 billion.
Intel’s Journey into AI
Intel, on the other hand, has had a slower start in AI, using the last year to develop chips to rival Nvidia’s offerings. Despite some challenging years, Intel is transitioning to a foundry model and has announced a range of new AI chips. Intel’s shares are up about 5% year over year, and its data center and AI business segment posted revenue growth of 5% year over year.
The Verdict
While Nvidia’s established position in AI makes its stock an excellent option for long-term holding, Intel could have more room to run, with its journey into AI only just beginning. If projections are correct, Nvidia’s stock would rise 96% from its current position within two years, while Intel’s would increase 42%.
