Laurence Liew, director for AI Innovation at AI Singapore, says there is a more immediate threat. “AI is not going to replace you,” Liew said during a panel discussion at Salesforce’s World Tour Essentials event in Singapore. "You’re going to be replaced by someone who uses AI to outperform you."

Liew argues that the most important skill workers can develop today is how to utilize generative AI tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT effectively, by learning how to provide detailed prompts that will deliver more conversational results. “You have to give the AI a lot of context — treat AI like a very hardworking intern that will make mistakes occasionally,” he said.

According to the same Work Trend report, most professionals are already working on their AI skills, so the competition in this arena is already ramping up. The report found the use of AI tools among knowledge workers across the globe has nearly doubled just over the past six months, with 75% acknowledging they use it.

Interest in artificial intelligence (AI) has skyrocketed since the start of 2023, with the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT kicking off a boom in the industry. This has put a spotlight on chipmakers like Nvidia and Intel, who are producing the hardware that makes AI possible.
Nvidia’s Dominance in AI
Nvidia has been at the forefront of the AI chip industry, with its leading role in graphics processing units (GPUs) allowing it to get a head start in AI. Nvidia’s stock has risen 218% over the last year, and its free cash flow has increased by 430% to more than $27 billion.

While Nvidia’s established position in AI makes its stock an excellent option for long-term holding, Intel could have more room to run, with its journey into AI only just beginning. If projections are correct, Nvidia’s stock would rise 96% from its current position within two years, while Intel’s would increase 42%.
