Google has rolled out a new Gemini AI side panel within Gmail, designed to assist users in writing emails and summarizing email threads. This feature aims to streamline communication and improve productivity for Gmail users.
Drafting Assistance and Smart Responses
With the Gemini integration in Gmail, users can receive help drafting emails and even get suggested responses for their messages. Whether you’re composing a new email or replying to a thread, Gemini provides prompts and recommendations to enhance your communication.
Ask Questions and Retrieve Specific Information
Gemini allows users to ask questions directly within Gmail. For instance, you can inquire about a purchase order number or find out how much the company spent on a recent marketing event. The AI-powered side panel retrieves relevant details from your inbox or Google Drive files.
Remember that these features are available exclusively to Google Workspace customers with specific Gemini subscriptions. As Google continues to integrate generative AI into everyday apps, Gemini’s capabilities are expanding beyond email to other productivity tools like Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive.

OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT, is now accessible to all macOS users. The app was initially announced ahead of Apple’s WWDC 2024, where integrations between ChatGPT and Apple’s operating systems for iPhone, iPad, and Mac were jointly revealed.
Quickly Access ChatGPT with Keyboard Shortcuts
Mac users can easily summon ChatGPT by using the keyboard combination Option + Space after installing the new ChatGPT app. This shortcut mirrors the familiar behavior of invoking Spotlight Search with Command + Space, but instead of traditional search results, users gain access to ChatGPT’s wide-ranging knowledge and conversational capabilities.
ChatGPT’s User-Friendly Interface
Once launched, ChatGPT appears as an overlaid chat interface on top of the screen, allowing users to engage in natural conversations and seek information effortlessly. The app supports direct communication, screenshot discussions, file uploads, and past conversation searches.

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is using publicly shared content from U.S. accounts to train and improve its AI capabilities, including its chatbot. While European Union and U.K. users have protections against this practice, users in the U.S. and other countries without national data privacy laws don’t have a surefire way to stop Meta from using their data for AI training.
Protecting Your Data
Here are two options to safeguard your personal data:
Make Your Account Private: You can prevent Meta from training its AI on your data by making your Facebook or Instagram account private.
Delete Public Posts: Alternatively, deleting your public posts will also stop the social media giant from using your personal data for AI training.
Remember that Meta’s AI training differs from other companies; it uses every publicly shared detail of your life, including photos, videos, and captions. Private accounts, stories, and direct messages are spared from this data collection. Stay informed and take control of your privacy!
