- LATEST DEVELOPMENTS -

Meta is asking Facebook users to enable “cloud processing” that uploads private photos to its servers, allowing AI to analyze faces, dates, and objects—even unpublished media.

Details:

  1. Meta is prompting users to opt into “cloud processing” on Facebook Stories.

  2. This feature uploads your private camera roll to Meta’s cloud regularly.

  3. In doing so, users agree to let Meta AI analyze images, faces, timestamps, and other visual elements.

  4. Meta hasn’t confirmed if these private photos will train AI models, but it hasn’t ruled it out either.

  5. These terms are folded into Meta AI’s user agreement—often accepted without much scrutiny.

  6. Previously, Meta admitted to scraping public Facebook and Instagram posts since 2007 for AI training.

Takeaway: Meta wants deeper access to your offline life via private images. If you care about data privacy, read every pop-up—what you don’t post might still be up for grabs.

Google’s new Doppl app lets users upload a full-body photo and try on outfits virtually with AI—creating images and even videos of how clothes might look and move on their own body.

Details:

  1. Google released Doppl, a fashion-focused AI app for iOS and Android in the U.S.

  2. Users upload a full-body image and try outfits using screenshots or photos.

  3. Doppl shows how clothes look on your own virtual body, not generic models.

  4. It can also generate short videos to show how the outfit might move.

  5. Users can save looks and share them socially.

  6. It's an experimental Google Labs project, so accuracy may vary.

  7. Builds on Google's earlier virtual try-on efforts from Google Shopping.

Takeaway: Doppl makes virtual styling personal. It’s fun, useful, and pushes AI fashion tech forward—but remember, it’s still learning, so your digital mirror might need some polishing.

Germany urged Apple and Google to remove DeepSeek from app stores, citing illegal data transfers to China and potential national security concerns. Other EU countries are also taking action.

Details:

  1. Germany’s data watchdog asked Apple and Google to delist DeepSeek’s app.

  2. Accusation: DeepSeek sends EU users’ personal data to China without sufficient protection.

  3. The watchdog claims DeepSeek failed to meet EU data transfer regulations.

  4. DeepSeek didn't comply with a prior request to fix this issue voluntarily.

  5. Germany joins Italy and the Netherlands in actions against the app; Belgium and Spain are reviewing.

  6. The UK is monitoring, while U.S. lawmakers plan a bill to block Chinese AI in government use.

  7. Reuters reported DeepSeek supports China’s military and intelligence sectors.

Takeaway: DeepSeek’s global AI ambitions face major roadblocks in Europe. Its data practices are triggering privacy and security alarms—governments are watching closely, and bans may keep spreading.
