LATEST AI UPDATES

Alibaba

Alibaba's Qwen team has released a new family of AI models, Qwen2.5-VL, capable of performing text and image analysis tasks, including controlling PCs and mobile devices.

These models can parse files, understand videos, count objects in images, and interact with software environments.

The flagship model, Qwen2.5-VL-72B, outperforms OpenAI's GPT-4o, Anthropic's Claude 3.5 Sonnet, and Google's Gemini 2.0 Flash in various evaluations.

Qwen2.5-VL models are available for testing in Alibaba's Qwen Chat app and for download on Hugging Face.

However, the flagship model requires permission for commercial use by entities with over 100 million monthly active users.

AI Image

DeepSeek has launched Janus-Pro, a new family of multimodal AI models that outperform OpenAI's DALL-E 3.

These models, ranging from 1 billion to 7 billion parameters, are available for download on Hugging Face under an MIT license, allowing unrestricted commercial use.

Janus-Pro can analyze and create images, with the largest model, Janus-Pro-7B, excelling in benchmarks like GenEval and DPG-Bench.

Despite some limitations in image resolution, Janus-Pro's performance is impressive given its compact size.

This release marks a significant advancement in AI image generation and positions DeepSeek as a strong contender in the AI industry

Meta

Meta has introduced new features to its AI assistant, Meta AI, allowing it to use data from Facebook and Instagram to personalize responses.

The AI can now remember details from one-on-one chats on Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp, such as user preferences and interests.

This memory feature enables Meta AI to provide more relevant recommendations, like suggesting vegan recipes if a user previously mentioned being vegan.

Additionally, Meta AI will use account information from across Meta's apps to offer personalized suggestions, such as local events based on a user's home location and interests.

However, there is no option to opt out of this data collection, raising privacy concerns.
