DeepSeek

DeepSeek, a Chinese AI startup, left one of its databases exposed on the internet, potentially allowing malicious actors to access sensitive data.
The ClickHouse database contained over a million lines of log streams, including chat history, secret keys, backend details, and API secrets.
The exposure allowed for complete database control and potential privilege escalation without requiring authentication.
DeepSeek has since secured the database following attempts by the cloud security firm Wiz to contact them.
This incident highlights the risks associated with the rapid adoption of AI services without corresponding security measures.
Gemini
Google has announced the rollout of its Gemini 2.0 Flash AI model to the Gemini app on both web and mobile platforms.
This upgraded model promises faster responses and improved performance across key benchmarks, aiding users with tasks like brainstorming, learning, and writing.
The update also enhances Gemini's image generation capabilities with the latest version of Google's Imagen 3 AI text-to-image generator, delivering richer details and greater accuracy.
Users can continue using Gemini 1.5 Flash and 1.5 Pro for the next few weeks to ensure a smooth transition.
Meta AI
Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses achieved over 1 million sales in 2024, as revealed by CEO Mark Zuckerberg during an all-hands meeting.
The glasses, launched in 2023, have steadily added new features, including multimodal AI for processing visual, auditory, and textual information, as well as live AI translations.
Zuckerberg emphasized the company's first-mover advantage in the smart glasses market and expressed ambitions to increase sales to 2-5 million units in 2025.
Meta plans to expand its wearable tech lineup with new smart glasses, including a heads-up display codenamed Hypernova and a collaboration with Oakley.
Apple
Apple has announced that its AI suite, Apple Intelligence, will support additional languages starting in April.
The new languages include French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese, along with localized English versions for India and Singapore.
This expansion follows the initial release, which only supported U.S. English, and the December update that added support for English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K.
Additionally, a new version of Siri, capable of understanding on-screen context, will be released in the coming months
