Supercomputer + AI = Faster Vaccine Discovery
The University of Bristol's £225 million Isambard-AI supercomputer is set to become the most powerful in the UK, using artificial intelligence to develop new drugs and vaccines.
The supercomputer, which will be fully operational by summer, is already being used to create treatments for Alzheimer's, heart disease, emphysema, and various cancers.
It can simulate drug interactions at the molecular level, significantly speeding up the research process. The technology also aids in improving the detection of melanoma across diverse skin tones.
The project, funded by the UK government, aims to make the UK competitive in AI and high-performance computing on a global scale.
The waste energy from the supercomputer will be used to heat local homes and businesses, showcasing an innovative approach to energy efficiency.

ChatGPT Gets Personality
OpenAI has rolled out a new feature for ChatGPT, allowing users to customize the chatbot's traits, such as "Chatty," "Encouraging," and "Gen Z".
This update is part of a revamped user interface for the custom instructions menu, which lets users specify their preferred name, profession, and other personal details.
The feature will initially be available on ChatGPT.comand the Windows desktop app, with plans to expand to mobile and MacOS desktop apps.
However, it will not be immediately available to users in the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland.
This new customization option is separate from ChatGPT's memory feature, which allows users to tell the chatbot to remember or forget specific information. The update aims to enhance user experience by making interactions more personalized and user-friendly.
