LATEST AI UPDATES
WhatsApp is testing a new feature for iOS that allows users to manage multiple accounts on a single device.
This update, available in the latest beta version 25.2.10.70, enables users to add and switch between accounts seamlessly.
Users can set up a second account as a standalone primary account or link it by scanning a QR code.
This feature, already available for Android users, simplifies account management by keeping all conversations in one app, eliminating the need for separate installations or devices.
Apple
Apple has made a significant change to its AI team by appointing Kim Vorrath, a 36-year veteran at the company, to lead its AI and machine learning division.
Vorrath, who previously played a key role in the Vision Pro software launch, will serve as a top deputy to AI chief John Giannandrea.
This move signals Apple's commitment to improving its AI capabilities, particularly Siri. The company plans to revamp Siri's infrastructure and enhance its in-house AI models.
A major Siri upgrade, allowing it to understand on-screen content and take action, is expected to arrive with iOS 18.4.
Additionally, Apple has paused its AI-powered news notification summaries due to inaccuracies.
AI Merge
Perplexity AI has revised its merger proposal with TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, to create a new entity combining Perplexity and TikTok US.
The proposal includes the formation of a US holding company called "NewCo," with the US government potentially owning up to 50% of the new company following an initial public offering (IPO) valued at a minimum of $300 billion.
ByteDance would sell TikTok US to investors, excluding its core recommendation algorithm, which ByteDance would retain.
This move aims to address national security concerns and keep TikTok operational in the US.
