Despite the high expectations, some users have expressed their disappointment with the device on Reddit. They have reported severe headaches and eye fatigue after using the device for more than 30-45 minutes. Some users have even claimed that they feel sick after using the device for less than 5 minutes.

Google’s Gemini 1.5 is Here.

Enhanced Performance and Understanding

Gemini 1.5 boasts a longer context window, better understanding, and an overall enhanced performance. Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated that Gemini 1.5 Pro, the first model of Gemini 1.5, achieves comparable quality to 1.0 Ultra, Google’s most advanced large language model, while using less computing.

Breakthrough in Long-Context Understanding

Gemini 1.5 has been built on a new version of Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture, which allows the model to learn and selectively activate the most relevant pathways in its neural network, thereby increasing efficiency. It can run up to one million tokens in production, a significant increase from the original 32,000 tokens for Gemini 1.0. This increase in the model context window, the amount of information it can take in, is expected to result in better and more informed responses.

Impressive Benchmark Performance

Gemini 1.5 Pro outperformed 1.0 Pro in 87% of the benchmarks used by Google to develop its large language models. It also performed exceptionally well in the Needle In A Haystack (NIAH) evaluation and Machine Translation from One Book (MTOB) benchmarks, which test the model’s acuity and learning abilities.

Future Expectations

A final release of Android 15 will probably be announced over the summer and fully available in the fall along with the Pixel 9 series.
