LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

Anthropic has unified its Claude app into a single workspace, merging Cowork and Design directly into the main chat while launching built-in, real-time editable Docs and Slides tools. (187 characters)

Details

  1. Unified Experience: Anthropic removed the separate "Cowork" mode toggle, merging agentic tasks and regular chat so Claude automatically routes requests to the right capabilities based on the task description.

  2. New Creation Tools: Anthropic launched Claude Docs and Claude Slides in beta, allowing users to draft, edit collaboratively, present, and export documents or decks directly inside conversations.

  3. Embedded Design & Connectors: Claude Design now operates natively inside standard chats, seamlessly pulling context from connected apps, project files, and user skills.

  4. Flexible Exporting: Generated documents and presentation decks can be shared via single shareable links or exported to Google Docs, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and PDF formats.

  5. Rollout Schedule: The unified interface is rolling out immediately to Pro and Max tier subscribers across web, desktop, and mobile, with Team and Free tiers set to follow later. (Claude Code remains a separate dedicated environment).

Takeaway

Anthropic is transforming Claude from a simple conversational assistant into an all-in-one productivity platform, putting direct pressure on office suites like Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.

Google launched early access to a new Home Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, allowing third-party AI agents like Claude and ChatGPT to control connected smart home devices and analyze event logs via natural language. (198 characters)

Details

  1. Broader Compatibility: Supported third-party AI agents (including Claude, ChatGPT, Hermes, OpenClaw, and Google Antigravity) can now interact with Google Home devices via the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

  2. Deep System Access: Beyond turning lights on or off, authorized agents can search event history, review camera feed summaries, monitor household activity, and generate custom smart home dashboards.

  3. Supported Hardware: Works natively with Nest devices (like doorbells and thermostats) as well as third-party smart home hardware under the "Works with Google Home" and Matter ecosystems.

  4. Setup & Authentication: Users must set up a Google Cloud project to enable Home MCP, link it to their chosen AI agent, and explicitly authorize device permissions and account access.

  5. Availability: Currently rolling out in early access to English-speaking users subscribed to Google Home Premium Advanced ($20/month) in the United States.

Takeaway

By adopting open protocols like MCP, Google is shifting smart home control away from proprietary voice assistants toward an ecosystem where users can manage their homes using whichever AI agent they prefer.

Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jensen Huang reportedly convinced President Trump to drop a proposal for an industry-funded AI oversight body, arguing it would favor labs like Google and OpenAI. (198 characters)

Details

  1. The Regulator Proposal: Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis proposed an industry-funded AI oversight committee (similar to FINRA) to monitor safety and set deployment standards, backed by Anthropic's Dario Amodei.

  2. Private Oval Office Pushback: Mark Zuckerberg (Meta), Elon Musk (SpaceXAI), and Jensen Huang (Nvidia) held separate conversations with Trump to actively lobby against establishing the new regulatory board.

  3. Core Objections: The tech moguls argued that a centralized board would concentrate power among early leading labs (like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google) while crippling open-source competition and innovation.

  4. Trump Drops the Plan: Following the meetings, President Trump abandoned the regulatory proposal, posting on Truth Social that additional guardrails were unnecessary and claiming slowdowns would only aid China.

  5. Alternative Self-Regulation: Instead of federal oversight, CEOs advocated for existing laws and peer model testing, with Musk suggesting companies grade competitor models rather than relying on government bodies.

Takeaway

Lobbying by top hardware and open-source AI leaders has successfully kept federal hands off AI regulation, preserving a fast-paced, market-driven environment at the expense of unified safety oversight.

Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads

Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Here’s how:

After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.

The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.

“For CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,” said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. “Comping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROAS… and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”

Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.
