AI Gives Eyes to the Blind

Scientists have developed AI-powered smart glasses, headphones, and wrist sensors to help blind individuals navigate safely using vocal commands and vibrations.

Details:

  1. Wearable Tech: The system includes smart glasses, bone-conducting headphones, and vibrating wrist patches.

  2. AI Processing: A camera in the glasses captures surroundings, analyzed by AI.

  3. Navigation Aid: Vocal commands and wrist vibrations guide users safely.

  4. Object Detection: Finger sensors help users grasp objects.

  5. Proven Success: A study showed the system effectively guided users through a maze.

Takeaway:

AI-driven wearable technology is revolutionizing accessibility, offering blind individuals greater independence and mobility.

New Samsung Phone: Built Tough, Powered by AI

Samsung has introduced the Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro, two rugged devices designed for demanding work environments like construction and healthcare.

The XCover7 Pro features a replaceable battery, AI-powered tools, and MIL-STD-810H certification for durability. It supports seven years of software and security updates, ensuring longevity.

The Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro, launching in June, offers eight years of updates, a 10.1-inch display, and dual hot-swap battery functionality for uninterrupted use.

Both devices prioritize ruggedness over sleekness, making them ideal for professionals needing durable, high-performance tech.

GPT-4.1 Just Dropped

OpenAI has launched GPT-4.1, an upgraded AI model that surpasses GPT-4o in coding, instruction-following, and overall performance.

The model boasts a one-million-token context window, significantly expanding its ability to process text, images, and videos. Alongside GPT-4.1, OpenAI introduced GPT-4.1 Mini and GPT-4.1 Nano, offering developers more affordable and efficient AI solutions.

GPT-4.1 is 26% cheaper than GPT-4o, making it a cost-effective option for businesses and developers.

OpenAI also announced plans to phase out GPT-4 from ChatGPT by April 30th and discontinue the GPT-4.5 preview in the API by July 14th.

The company is shifting focus toward refining its AI models while delaying the anticipated GPT-5 launch
