Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is gearing up to enhance its artificial intelligence capabilities. Starting June 26, Meta plans to use user data from interactions with chatbots on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp to train its generative AI models. However, there’s a catch: whether you can opt out depends on your location.

Meta’s AI assistant, called “Meta AI,” already provides recommendations for various tasks, from restaurant suggestions to coding advice. Until now, its AI models primarily relied on web-scraped and licensed data. However, the upcoming update will allow Meta to tap into user data from posts and chatbot interactions across all its platforms. Even if you’re not directly using these platforms, Meta can still collect data from posts you’re tagged in or images you’ve posted through someone else.
