Watch Videos with AI Subtitles in VLC!🔗Link

At CES 2025, VLC showcased a groundbreaking feature: real-time AI-powered subtitling and translation.

This new capability allows VLC to generate and translate subtitles for videos in over 100 languages, all processed locally and offline.

This ensures user privacy as no data is sent to the cloud. The feature is integrated directly into the VLC app, leveraging open-source AI models.

While no release date has been announced, this innovation promises to enhance video accessibility and user experience.

AI Became Our Equal...🔗Link

OpenAI's o3 AI model has achieved a significant milestone by scoring 85% on the ARC-AGI test, a benchmark designed to measure general intelligence.

This score is comparable to the average human performance and far surpasses previous AI models, which were capped at 55%.

The ARC-AGI test evaluates a system's ability to generalize from few examples, a key aspect of intelligence. Despite this impressive performance, o3 is not yet considered an artificial general intelligence (AGI) as it still struggles with tasks that are simple for humans.

The exact workings of o3 remain undisclosed, and its ability to generalize in other contexts is still under question.

OpenAI is Building Robots🔗Link

OpenAI has unveiled its ambitious plans for a new robotics division through job listings and a social media post by Caitlin Kalinowski, the hardware director.

The company aims to develop general-purpose, adaptive, and versatile robots equipped with custom sensor suites and powered by AI models developed internally.

These robots are designed to operate with human-like intelligence in dynamic, real-world environments. OpenAI is also exploring the creation of humanoid robots and plans to reach full-scale production.

The company is actively hiring for key positions to support this initiative, indicating a strong commitment to advancing robotics technology.

Halliday’s AI Glasses Beat Big Tech🔗Link

Halliday has introduced its new AI-powered smart glasses at CES 2025, featuring the world's smallest optical module integrated into the frame.

These glasses offer a 3.5-inch display, visible only to the wearer, and provide real-time translations in over 40 languages, voice-to-text transcription, and proactive AI responses without prompts.

The glasses are lightweight, weighing just 35 grams, and can be controlled via voice commands, touch gestures, or a trackpad ring. They are expected to be available by the end of Q1 2025, priced between $399 and $499.

How to turn off Apple Intelligence?🔗Link

Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI-powered tools integrated into iPhones, iPads, and Macs, can be disabled if users find them unnecessary.

These features, which include Writing Tools, Image Creation, and AI-generated notification summaries, take up significant storage space (7GB).

Users can turn off specific features or disable Apple Intelligence entirely through the Settings menu.

This flexibility allows users to manage their device's storage and avoid unwanted AI functionalities.
